carved a design into a block of wood or linoleum, rolled printing ink (or paint) across
the surface of the carved block, laid a sheet of paper atop the inked surface, and
then pushed a clean roller over the back of the paper to
capture the reverse image of the inked design. The action of pulling the paper
with the printed design away from the carved block is what gives
these prints the name "pulled prints".
Where the design was carved into wood, it is noted, as the grain of the wood is
sometimes visible in prints made from wood blocks, unlike prints pulled from
the inorganic linoleum blocks. When 100 prints have been made,
each block will be sold as a carving.
You may notice that many of the designs are imbued with African symbolism.
